General Information:

Collection of tissue removed during surgical operations. The bank started prospectively in 1986 for tissue from thyroid, parathyroid and abdominal endocrine tumors. From 2002 also tissue from breast tumors urologic tumors, melanoma and GI tumors are included. Main aim is to use tissue for molecular biology

Yes A new database developed and since July 2002 in routine use. The aim is primarily to help to handle tissue. It contains patient identification, pathology identification, ethical approval, normal or pathological tissue, pathology coding number of specimen and where in the freezer they are located. In addition the database handles any withdrawal from the biobank.

Development of database for use in hospital to take care of operative tissue. In addition logistics for running smoothly the whole chain from patient information to banking access.
